The American ski racing community is mourning the loss of Thomas “TJ” Lanning, a former U.S. Ski Team alpine racer and respected coach, who died at the age of 41. Career and Achievements
Born on August 27, 1984, in Helena, Montana, Lanning developed a passion for alpine skiing early in life. Specializing in downhill, super-G, and combined events, he became known for his fearless approach and ability to compete at the highest levels.

Represented the U.S. at the 2001 and 2002 FIS Junior World Ski Championships.

Competed at the 2007 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre, Sweden.

Scored World Cup points on nine occasions, including three top-10 finishes.

Career highlights included a 9th-place finish in Lake Louise (2008) and 10th in Val Gardena (2008).

Crowned U.S. Downhill Champion in 2008, later qualifying for the World Cup Finals.
