Shooting at GM Arlington Facility Leaves One Injured, Investigation Underway

A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning on Hamilton’s Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (LINC), prompting a major emergency response and the closure of a busy stretch of the expressway.

Hamilton Police say emergency crews were dispatched at 6:52 a.m. to the westbound lanes near the Garth Street overpass. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The incident forced the closure of westbound lanes between Upper James Street and Garth Street, causing significant delays during the morning commute. Collision Reconstruction Unit investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence while police managed traffic in the area.

Officials have not provided details on how the collision occurred, noting that pedestrian access to the parkway is generally prohibited. Investigators are working to establish the sequence of events and have not indicated whether charges are expected.

Police are appealing to motorists who traveled westbound on the LINC between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. to come forward, especially those with dash camera footage that could assist in reconstructing the incident.

The LINC, one of Hamilton’s busiest commuter routes, typically experiences heavy congestion during peak hours, making closures particularly disruptive. Authorities continue to investigate and say more information will be released as the case progresses.
