WILSON, Wyoming — Communities across Wyoming, Idaho, and California are mourning the tragic deaths of Nicholas “Nick” Besobrasow, 66, and David Page, 57, who lost their lives in a devastating multi-vehicle collision on Teton Pass on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The crash also left four others injured and has deeply affected those who knew the two men and the many people whose lives they touched.

Details of the Collision

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly before noon on Wyoming Highway 22 near the WYDOT sand shed above Wilson. Preliminary reports indicate that an eastbound dump truck carrying asphalt experienced an apparent brake failure while descending Teton Pass, causing the driver to lose control.

The truck struck multiple vehicles—including a motorcycle, two pickup trucks, a Subaru, and another passenger car—before overturning. Debris and asphalt scattered across the highway, prompting a large-scale emergency response and forcing the closure of the roadway for several hours.

Emergency personnel from Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Jackson Police Department, and St. John’s Health responded. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

The Teton County Coroner’s Office later identified the victims as David Page of Mammoth Lakes, California, and Nicholas “Nick” Besobrasow of Tetonia, Idaho.
