WALPOLE, Massachusetts — The Walpole community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of John Thomas Cullen, who passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 32. A devoted father, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, John’s passing has left family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew him grieving the loss of a man remembered for his infectious smile, generous heart, and deep love for those around him.
Early Life and Family
Born on September 3, 1993, John was the cherished son of John F. and Marie B. (Fitzgerald) Cullen of Walpole. Above all, he was a proud and devoted father to his son, John Michael Cullen, who was the center of his world and greatest source of happiness.
He is also survived by the mother of his son, Carissa Galavotti of Lakeville, and his siblings: Kayla M. Davis (Stephen) of Quincy, Shannon C. Folan (Shawn) of Norfolk, Meaghan M. Cullen of Walpole, and Hannah S. Cullen of Walpole. He was a cherished uncle to Callum J. Folan and grandson of Edward and Eileen (Folan) Fitzgerald of West Roxbury.
John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hugh T. Cullen and Marguerite M. (Hynes) Cullen. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who considered him family.
Career and Passions
A 2011 graduate of Walpole High School, John developed a passion for sports and continued his education at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. He later began a career as an elevator mechanic with Stanley Elevator Company Inc., where he was respected for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.
A Loving Father and Friend
John’s greatest pride was being a father. Family members describe the relationship he shared with his son as the most important part of his life. He loved introducing his son to activities he enjoyed, celebrating milestones, and creating meaningful memories together.
Friends remember John for his contagious laughter, bright smile, and caring personality. His generosity, humor, and genuine kindness created lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.

- Funeral Mass: Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury
- Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery
