Newport News Police Investigate Three-Vehicle Crash Involving Unmarked Police Car
The Newport News Police Department is investigating a three-vehicle crash involving an unmarked police vehicle that occurred Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and J. Clyde Morris Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. after reports of a multi-vehicle accident.
Preliminary Findings
Investigators determined that an unmarked police vehicle was struck when a Honda veered into its lane while both vehicles were traveling northbound on Jefferson Avenue. Following the initial collision, the Honda continued into another lane and struck a Ford pickup truck.
The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. No injuries were reported among the other drivers involved.

Police and emergency crews quickly secured the scene, assessed those involved, and worked to restore traffic flow in the busy corridor.
Authorities confirmed that the incident remains under investigation as they review the circumstances leading up to the crash.
