Mary Jane Stillman Obituary, Cause of Death – Kirkwood Community Mourns
KIRKWOOD, New York — The community is mourning the loss of Mary Jane (Warrington) Stillman, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany, N.Y.
A Life of Strength and Adventure
Born in Hudson, N.Y., Mary Jane was the beloved daughter of George and Delcia Warrington. Raised in Niverville with her siblings Kathy and Bobby, she grew up with the spirited determination of the 1960s — sneaking off to Woodstock and traveling cross-country after graduating from Ichabod Crane High School in 1968.
Her life took a new path when she met her husband of 36 years, James “Jim” Stillman. Together, they built a life in Kirkwood filled with love, adventure, and devotion until Jim’s passing in 2012.
Career and Dedication
Mary Jane retired from a fulfilling career at Simpson Milligan Printing before joining Jim in owning and operating Pony Express Transport Service. Following his passing, she continued to successfully run the business until shortly before her own passing — a testament to her perseverance and strong work ethic.
Shared Passions
Mary Jane and Jim shared a love for adventure, enjoying motorcycle riding, scuba diving, reading, and traveling. Their journeys took them across the U.S., Europe, New Zealand, Fiji, and Australia, creating lifelong friendships. They also cherished winters in Titusville, Fla., where Mary Jane built lasting bonds.
Family and Legacy
Above all, Mary Jane treasured her family. She was a loving aunt and great-aunt, remembered for her generosity, stubborn streak, and unconditional love. She is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, stepdaughters, and many extended family members and friends in both New York and Florida.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jim, her siblings Robert and Katherine, her cousin Richard Cloutier, and her niece Emily Warrington.
Funeral Arrangements
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at W.J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, with a Memorial Service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society or to one’s local SPCA in Mary Jane’s memory.
Rest peacefully, Mary Jane Stillman. Your love, resilience, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
